There is a reason why England are not in this tournament. And the reason is Croatia. (Allright, Russia stole 3 points from them them on a frozen pitch in Moscow) but Croatia outplayed England in both matches. I know Eduardo won't be there but I still think Croatia has what it takes to win the group. Germany are still improving and as hosts they have an advantage. (Oh, it's in Schweizaustria. Riiiiight...) but I suspect they'll go through in second place.

The hapless Austrians had a contingent of citizens petition the government to disallow the host team's automatic qualification for the tournament because they feared an impending national embarassment. Should England have taken their place instead? A shame two spots are occupied when nations co-host.
Germany - Hard to find someone who doesn't like the Germans to win this group. Manager Löw aims to prove he was the genius behind Germany's roundly acclaimed 3rd place WC 2006 finish.
Croatia - Even without Eduardo the Croats should still be strong enough to overcome Poland, though the Poles have a wily manager in the Dutchman Leo Beenhakker. Look for an exciting last match between the two to decide 2nd place w/ the Croats going through.

Germany hasn't even made quater final since they won in 1996. However, they look very strong this year. I'll go with Germany and Croatia.
